MYANMAR
For four weeks in late 2006, we had the opportunity to visit this devoutly Buddhist country, rich with many ethnic tribal cultures. Unfortunately the result of some of the tribal conflicts has been the establishment of a brutal military dictatorship that has caused enormous suffering and repression throughout the country. Our trip was tightly choreographed to highlight the glories of their cultural past, visits with some of the hill tribes, and a five day exploration of the Andaman Sea along the western coast of the country.
