ARGENTINA-CHILE
For five weeks in February and March of 2008, we explored four major areas of Argentina and Chile. We began with several days in Buenos Aires, including a side trip to Iguazu Falls on the Argentina-Brazil border. We then headed south to the area generally known as Patagonia, visiting the Perito Moreno glacier, and the towers of the Fitz Roy massif on the Argentine side, to Lago Grey and the Torres del Paine Park in Chile. We then headed north to the Atacama Desert in northern Chile, visiting area salt flats, dunes and geysers. We finished our trip with several days in Mendoza, the Argentine wine growing area and home to Aconcagua, the largest mountain outside the Himalayan range.
